Home Products Background

DAX Technologies has leveraged its experience and knowledge in telecommunications and information technologies to develop and provide a number of software products to improve network operations, service delivery, and marketing for enterprise, government, and communications service provider customers.

With a background in telecommunications and information technology (IT) the founder of DAX Technologies, Dragos Alexe, has focused on Operations Support Systems (OSS’s) and Business Support Systems (BSS's) products in communications. DAX's initial product, the Optima Network Management Solution, was a fully integrated web based Fault and Performance Network Management Solutions for wireless communications service providers. Optima, which was sold to Kentrox in late 2007, currently supports over 30 Wireless Carrier Networks in the US, Canada, and the Caribbean.

OSS/BSS Background:

The OSS market originated during the 1970’s in the Bell System where computer based point solutions was introduced to automate manual network administrative processes. Since those early systems, the goal for telecommunications operations has and continues to be the lowering operations costs. The evolution of OSS's has focused on two key areas: (a) architectural elements (Processes, Data, Applications, and Technology) and (b) architectural models.

Traditionally, OSSs focused on network processes such as network inventory, provisioning services, configuring network components, managing faults, and managing performance. On the other hand BSSs, which historically followed OSSs, focused on "business solutions" dealing with customer facing processes such as order taking, marketing, sales, billing, and collections.

Network Management and Business Management:

The Network Management layer has been defined by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) with the acronym FCAPS covering; Fault, Configuration, Accounting, Performance and Security. Although originally conceived for IT enterprise networks, FCAPS has also been adopted for use by public telecommunications networks adhering to ITU-T TMN standards. The DAX Technologies Product Suite focuses on OSS solutions with its integrated Fault and Performance software packages as well as OSS/BSS solutions with its Trouble Ticket Manager, Experience Manager, and Service Level Manager software products.
